This statistics bootcamp is a 5-day/30-hour practical course on statistical methods using the programming language R. The course will take place May 14-18, 2018 at the Michigan State University International Center, Room 115. The instructor, Dr. Stefan Th. Gries, is a corpus linguist, an experienced teacher of statistics, and the author of “Statistics for Linguists with R”.
All individuals who complete the full 5-day workshop will receive a certificate of participation. You will also be acknowledged on this website for your participation, in order to provide a link for your digital resumé.
The bootcamp is intended primarily for graduate students and researchers with existing basic knowledge in statistics and some experience using R, and who wish to become more confident using R for statistical analysis. The first four chapters of “Statistics for Linguists with R” are considered required reading for successful participation in the bootcamp. Some background in linguistics, such as an introductory undergraduate course, is recommended but not required.
